Why the common diets always fail – Part I
Since I remember I have heard an endless ways and diets to slim down fast. Probably a lot of us got tricked by one of these. And if it is, so you realized, the same as me, that if a few of them actually works for a while, they can make us get fat the same or even more than what we were before.
Let me explain you the true reason why common diets always fail. And it is not just that, they also are a risk for your health.
First of all, let’s understand that the nature of these diets come from an endless source of knowledge: Ignorance.
Let me give you an example so you can understand what I mean:
Some time ago I had a neighbor: Miss Ana, since a couple of years ago she had some extra pounds. One day she woke up and went straight to her mirror. Just when she looked at her bulging stomach she made up a decision: I am going to lose weight!
Miss Ana, had a long time without really caring about her nutrition, she liked to eat sweets all the time, she even repeated herself with the dishes that she found delicious. And now, since she had made that decision, she thought as most of us do: “Well, if I gain these pounds by eating more of what I am supposed to, I am going to lose them eating less”.
When the first month of diet ended, which consisted of eating very little, Miss Ana went to the balance and she realized that she had lost 4 pounds. She was so happy, since her goal was to reduce 12 pounds. She thought that she needed only two more months and her goal would be accomplished.
So she continued with the second month of her diet, and at the end she went to the balance again and she realized that she only reduced 2 pounds this time. She thought that those were the chocolate cakes that she could not resist were the guilty ones.
For the third month Miss Ana was even stricter, she didn’t eat any sweet at all and reduced the amount of food. Her mood changed, now she was angry all the time without energy to do anything. She also started to suffer headaches. And the worst is that at the end of that month, she went to her scale and she realized that she had lost only 1 pound.
She decided to cut off her diet, in total she lost 7 pounds in 3 months. But when she looked at the mirror she still looked with a lot of fat and with a little bit of loose skin. At the end of the fourth month, she gained more than 8 pounds without even eating in excess.
This is the example of what we have done (I include myself). We fall in these kinds of errors since we don’t inform ourselves in the right way. We hear the advices of a friend or we see some kind of article in the “Health magazine” and we trust in this starting a diet of low calories, which you can be certain that won’t do you any good and it will not do what it promises.
There is only one reason why these diets won’t ever work: the exaggerated lack of nourishments. These diets make us lose weight, yes, but the weigh that we lost it is not just fat, but also muscle.
A low calories diet will only accomplish that you will become a little version of what you actually are and in no case will make you accomplish your goals about your looks. Even worse, it will make your health go down.
I will show you some images and I want you to observe them carefully. Think how you would want your body look like:
Women:
Men:
I think you will notice at first sight: the models at the right side looks a lot better and healthier. Probably because you are expecting to reflect yourself as one of them. Sure, you may think I’m exaggerating, the people on the left may have anorexia, which is a disease acquired a lot of times by horrible habits, but it also may be for many other causes that it is not the fault of the person itself. Please don’t misunderstand me, the only thing I want to show with these pictures are the kind of consequences that may cause a long term a low calories diet.
If you notice in the example of Miss Ana, you will realize that in the first month she quickly lost 4 pounds, but she started to lose a lot less in the next months. If you read the article “The 3 laws of the body to slim down fast”, the explanation of this it will be on the first law: “The adaptation to changes”:
If you simply maintain a low calories diet for a long term, your body will go through a state of storing your energy, which will make stop your results. And if you keep going on with this diet, the necessary energies will be obtained from the muscles, and with this we will lose our important muscle mass. Besides, your body will start to store even more fat in the organism. It means that the low quantity of food will be transformed faster in fat and it will be stored by a longer period. The weigh you lost is not completely the fat that you wanted to lose, it will be also in an important amount of your muscles.
With the low calories diet, you will feel more fatigued and hungry. You will be tired all the day, and without any motivation to do anything because of the lack of nutrients in your organism. And the only thing you will think of is going to be “I need to eat”.
And the worst of all, the low calories diet will drastically slow down your metabolism.
To sum up, completely stay away from these kinds of diets. If you are in one on this moment, don’t keep up with it. But stop right now! Eat normal and prepare yourself for what you truly must do:
What you DON’T want to do is to lose weight “no matter what you are losing”.
What you DO want to do is to low your fat percentage without losing muscles.
Don’t worry, because in the next articles you will understand how you will really burn that fat and slim down very fast without losing muscles and by that you will get the body that you always wanted.
